The Greek Whistleblowing Protection Law 4990/2022 and Organizations Requirements

The European Directive on the Protection of Whistleblowers (EU Directive 2019/1937) aims to provide and promote a safe way for citizens to voice concerns and report any kind of violations or wrongdoing within their work environment, whether in the private or public sector.

In the framework of a system of such complaints, concerns that may arise encompass serious and sensitive issues that could adversely affect any company’s activities. These issues may include, among others, matters related to money laundering, bribery, corruption, various forms of fraud, substantial breaches of the company’s internal policies and procedures— including data protection—and violations against the life or health of individuals. Additionally, serious forms of discrimination or harassment are within the purview of these concerns.

Drawing on its experience in implementing Whistleblowing policies in the corporate environment, in alignment with European legislation, and leveraging its expertise in EQS software solutions, PRIORITY stands ready to assist all businesses in adopting Internal Reporting Channel Systems. This includes the implementation of specific behavioral codes and anonymous reporting tools as well.
