It was developed by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and is addressed to all food industry companies that export products to British supermarkets. The integrated Food Safety Management System, according to BRC for food requirements focuses on:
a) The quality management of products and services
b) The food safety of products
c) Site Security against from malicious and ideologically motivated attack leading to contamination
d) The management of food fraud issues
The last version of the standard is divided into nine (9) chapters:

3. Food safety and quality management system
4. Site standards
5. Product control
6. Process control

7. Personnel
8. High- risk, high care and ambient high- care production risk zones
9. Requirements for traded products
