Νέο πρότυπο για εταιρίες μυοκτονιών και απεντομώσεωνThe pest management sector is worth over € 2700 million and employs over 40.000 people in Europe. This sector plays an important role in protecting public health and keeping safe, pest and disease-free homes, schools, recreational areas, hotels and other businesses.

On the 30 July 2010, CEN accepted the proposal presented by the Italian Standards Organization (UNI) with the support of CEPA (European Pest Management Industry Association) to establish a European Standard in the area of pest management services. National standards covering pest management services already exist in Malta, Spain, Germany and France.

Following the acceptance of the proposal, CEN has created a new Project Committee, CEN/TC 404 'Project Committee - Services of pest management companies', in order to develop a European Standard specifying the requirements, recommendation and basic competences in order to reach a professional operation level of the services provided by pest management service companies. The standard should help to increase the quality and professionalism of this sector and to better meet the needs of private companies, public authorities and consumers.
