The IDF guide is the first international consensus document describing a common carbon footprint approach for dairy products including addressing the common LCA challenges of allocation to co-products and land use change. The document identifies the key areas in which there is currently ambiguity or differing views on approach while it recommends a science-based approach that can also be inserted into existing or developing methodologies for practical application in developing and developed dairy industries across the world.
